Term 4 Week 7

 We have been making collages. We are making a collage of fruits and vegetables based on a picture called "Vegetables" by Henri Matisse, a famous french artist who chopped out shapes when he was too sick to draw or paint. Find out more about Henir Matisse here: Henri Matisse and his collage.

We have been practising different ways of balancing. We are learning to balance on the beam with aeroplane arms and then jump off and make a motorbike landing.

Term 4 Week 5

Jed and Jonti represented the year 2's from Tahunanui school at the first Kids Cannes Film Festival .

We have been practising our throwing skills for next weeks athletics.

Term 4 Week 4

We used special window paints to make healthy apples and bananas for our classroom window.

Term 4 Week 3

We have been learning to play the recorder. It is tricky to cover the holes with our fingers.

Week 2 Term 4.

We are practising high jump for our school athletics later in the term. We have been learning which leg to take off on for the scissor jump. It is quite tricky but great fun!

Term 4. Week 1

We have had the life education caravan here this week. It has been good fun learning about healthy eating with Harold the giraffe.

Playful Playdough Pictures.

We had fun with playdough! We made Wolves, Wolf faces and Ella made an Elephant.

Sunshine and Skipping

We took advantage of a break in the rainy weather to practise our skipping in the sunshine.

Glorious Glockenspiels.

We have been learning to play the glockenspiels. We played twinkle twinkle little star and three blind mice.

Super Sewing.

We used wool and blunt needles to sew around our wolf outlines. It was tricky but fun. Then we used buttons for the eyes. Room 1 loved learning to sew!

Jump Jam

We showed some students from teachers college how good we are at Jump Jam.

Cosmodome

The Cosmodome came to school. It was really interesting to see the stars and planets and learn more about the solar-system.

Wolf Art

This term we have been doing visual art related to Wolves after reading Peter and the Wolf.

Making movies and taking photos.

We have been learning how to take digital photos.
We have been using our photos to make movies using the windows movie maker programme.

Making 4 digit numbers.

We have been learning how to make 4 digit numbers. We read the thousands, hundreds, tens and ones columns to get the number right. 

Ti Rakau- Maori stick games.

We have been learning to use Ti Rakau with a partner. Mrs T. has been helping us.

Instructions

We have been learning how to write and follow instructions.
We wrote instructions about how to make milo and how to make toast.

Drums

We made drums from tin cans and newspaper and had lots of fun painting them, then playing them.

Amazing Artists.
